Universities and Research Institutes

The complexity of the projects conducted at CERN has driven the formation of vast collaborations with growing numbers of universities and research institutes all over the globe.

Every year, more than 10 000 researchers from around the world take part in experiments conducted at CERN. The Industry, Procurement and Knowledge Transfer Department provides dedicated support to these users, helping visiting researchers and their home institutes manage their resources and commitments during their time at CERN.

The department also helps universities and research institutes maximize the potential of their relationships with CERN through technology transfer activities, ranging from educational projects to R&D initiatives helping realize the commercial value of work conducted at CERN, to licensing technologies and support for spin-off companies.
